Afghanistan, after the tragedy, here is the migrant tsunami. Italy at peak?
The discussions in the EU and specifically in Italy on the tragedy ofAfghanistan and on the imminent migratory crisis the warning of Cardinal Pappalardo at the funeral of General Dalla Chiesa brings back topicality: “Dum Romae consultur, Saguntum expugnatur”, while Rome discusses Sagunto is conquered. The usual bla-bla, predictable as useless as Biden’s promises after the very serious strategic errors of the Americans and allies on the whole affair: “We will bring all Americans home” while in Kabul the airlift is in full chaos and everywhere is rampant the terror of the reckoning of the Taliban who also put their hands in the US arsenals.
|“I ask all countries that participated in the mission in Afghanistan, European and non-European, to offer enough quotas for resettlement and safe routes, so that shelter can be guaranteed to those in need. We are ready to help the member states of the ‘EU “that they will welcome. The president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen explained, announcing that she will bring the theme of “resettlement to the G7|
In the background there is already the shadow of the Chinese dragon swelling his chest and enjoying the debacle USA and the West, ready to grab the prey: a replay of what has already been seen in other important realities, especially inCentral Africa. Today Kabul, tomorrow Taipei, then who knows who it’s up to, even if the list is ready. The domino effect is feared, realistically, with the US disengagement in Asia And Middle East, not to mention Africa. In Taiwan they already fear the worst: “We must be ready to defend ourselves from China”, An appeal that speaks volumes about the state of the fair. In Italy, the opportunity is good to reopen the usual quarrels from the chicken coop between the parties. The Premier Draghi, for now, it holds the bar straight, anchoring itself to Europe with a role of “political address”.
Another speech for the M5S, ruling party that expresses the Foreign Minister, the strongest party in Parliament, torn apart, with the skid of the “Afghan line” of With you due to the weight of the pro-Chinese wing of the grillini. Then there is the usual left with the usual Pd that insists on the refrain: “Democracy cannot be exported”. We forget that the US (NATO) had stayed in Afghanistan for 20 years to fight terrorism after the attacks of al-Qaeda at Twin towers from New York ofSeptember 11, 2001 which directly caused 2,997 deaths, its military and geopolitical consequences hundreds of thousands more, destabilizing the entire West: the world financial crisis, the Arab revolutions, the migration emergency and, from 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic of which the causes are not yet known and from which one is not yet out. It was not, in fact, only of terrorism but of an act of war that led the Bush administration to plan and manage the preventive military attack against the instigators and perpetrators of these acts and against anyone who threatened the security of Western democracies. On this basis, already ten days after the tragedy of the Twin Towers, on 21 September 2001 the European Council met at Brussels taking jointly (EU And Born) all measures of a political, institutional, legislative, judicial, military nature which, albeit with errors and limitations, have contributed to responding to terrorism. Then you can endlessly discuss the concept of “liberation by arms” but it would be enough to go back to US military intervention in Europe in World War II to save the world from Nazism and understand that chatter leaves the time it finds.
The agreements from Doha anticipators of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan were waste paper: i Taliban they did not dissociate themselves from anti-US and anti-West terrorism, they did not negotiate with the government of Kabul, overthrowing it, they freed terrorists and criminals of all kinds from maximum security prisons by blowing on the fire of the Jihadist “myth”, using the club against dissidents and ready to destabilize the US and Europe again. In this dramatic picture, to say the least, there is, ready to explode, theAfghan exodus, with the risk of a replay of the migration crisis of 2015/16 with over one million refugees from the Middle East to Europe.
Today, that million people could multiply, perhaps even reaching five million. The president of the European Parliament David Sassoli (Pd) calls for Afghan refugees fleeing the new regime to be welcomed into Europe “evenly distributed”. He echoes him Enrico Letta which initiates the mobilization of the Democratic Party to give asylum to refugees in Italy (in the party sections?) by launching the subscription (“Starting with leaders and parliamentarians”) for the NGOs who remain in the country. Thinking badly makes you sin but often you get it right. The real risk is that, once again, beyond the promises of other countries and the demagogy of our parties, the tide of new refugees, certainly including terrorists, will spill over to Italy. A tsunami that can make the country sink.
