Melita Voinovich, the representative of the World Health Organization in Russia, announced that the emerging coronavirus pandemic may end this year.
In an interview with the Russian Tass news agency, Voinovich points out that after the “Omicron” mutant, there will be no new waves of infection in the world, and this is what epidemiologists do not rule out.
She adds, but the stagnation of the pandemic does not mean the disappearance of the virus. The virus will retain the ability to mutate, so WHO experts do not expect the situation to develop, yet they note with cautious optimism that waves of large-scale outbreaks of the virus will stop when “Omicron dominates all regions of the globe”.
She notes that the World Health Organization does not recommend lifting the restrictions imposed due to the “Covid-19” pandemic. Also, the omicron mutant can cause a severe course of the disease, so all those in the risk group should be vaccinated.
Voinovich advises, to maintain personal immunity in the winter and spring, a lot of walking, taking vitamins, and not giving up wearing masks in public and closed places.
