The Lebanese Doctor’s project to develop electronic medicine ranked first in the field of medical artificial intelligence, after competing with international companies.
What’s in the details?
- The Adnan Al-Bakri project is based on developing a medical product in the field of health services, to be able to be practiced remotely in hospitals and medical clinics, to make the most of the digital age, and to save at least 3 billion euros of waste in France in order to improve the health system.
- The product that changed the surgeon’s life is a ‘smart health passport’, which is a card connected to an electronic platform through a mobile application and online that centralizes patients’ medical files.
- Al-Bakri represented France after receiving support from the French Ministry of Health, convinced that his modern electronic medicine project would reduce the costs of health services for citizens, and save millions of dollars on the state treasury.
achievement
In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Al-Bakri said:
- Modern technology can allow patients to be examined, treated, and performed surgical operations, through electronic means of communication, provided that there is a nurse next to the patient who follows the instructions of the doctor, who can be located in another city.
- The goal of the achievement is to prevent the waste of money in the health sectors, and to encourage the non-use of paper in order to preserve the environment.
success story
Al-Bakri left Lebanon in 2004 as a science student in France, to specialize in urology, and was preoccupied with the concept of “artificial intelligence” until he took it from the operating rooms to another place.
In this context, he explained:
- After my graduation, I worked on many researches, and the result was my focus on developing medicine through the application of artificial intelligence,” according to Al Bakri.
- I got the attention of the French government, as I was the first to prepare such research and it yielded useful results, the French investment bank supported me financially, and the investments in my own company amounted to $10 million.
- A development plan has been developed that connects the patient to the doctor wherever he is in the world, and has obtained a global patent.
- With the patient’s smart card that is interoperable between him and the medical center, we can link the patient’s medical path wherever he is in the world, and the goal of the unified medical file is to work on the same information collected about each patient, thus developing medicine in the world through these contributions.
- The artificial mind analyzes and contributes to the communication of information, and thus it can develop the medical sector through more cases and experiences, and support studies and research combined through one file.
world book
Al-Bakri’s project is summarized in a scientific book that he signed and spread globally, because it “presented a new idea for medical cooperation at the world level.”
As for his future dreams, Al-Bakri said that his biggest goal is to “implement his medical projects in Lebanon, specifically from his city of Tripoli.”
He revealed: “I will open a small office for this in the Abu Samra area, where the patient will go and sit behind the computer, and then present his problem to any doctor of his choice in the world, through the (Tele Medicine) system.”
He continued, “I faced many obstacles due to the lack of provision of vital services such as electricity, and the permanent lack of internet in Lebanon, but I will not despair and nothing is impossible as long as there is a goal and young energies seeking change.”
