SAO PAULO (Reuters) – The number of beds occupied by Covid-19 patients has fallen sharply in recent weeks, and Intermédica hopes this will help it return to normalized loss ratio levels in the coming months, after reaching its peak in the third quarter. 80%, company executives said on Thursday.
The hospital group disclosed the night before a loss of 90.7 million reais between July and the end of September, pressured by a strong increase in the loss ratio, which rose from 68.6% in the third quarter of 2020 to 80.1%.
In a conference call with analysts, Intermédica executives said that they had in Rio de Janeiro the night before a patient hospitalized with Covid-19, 7 patients in Minas Gerais and 3 in the South region.
“We are seeing a very auspicious moment of improvement in all indicators, of a return to normality, of a country with a very advanced vaccination program, with a dramatic reduction in the number of new Covid cases and in the complexity of hospitalizations for Covid”, stated the president of Intermédica, Irlau Machado Filho.
