The Russian ship “Admiral Tributs” drove the American destroyer “Chafee” out of the Russian territorial waters in the Sea of Japan, in compliance with international rules. It is reported by Interfax at the Ministry of Defense.
The Russian military department noted that the crew of the ship “Admiral Tributs” warned the American destroyer that it was in a closed area for navigation due to exercises with artillery fire.
“The URO destroyer Chafee, convinced of the determination of the Russian ship’s crew not to violate the state border, changed direction and at 17:50 turned back on the opposite course, when the Admiral Tributs was less than 60 meters away,” the Defense Ministry said.
An attempt by the Chafee to cross the Russian border in the Sea of Japan was reported earlier. It was noted that the US destroyer, operating in the Sea of Japan for several days, approached the territorial waters of Russia.
