The works awarded will be carried out in a section of 31.3 km and have an execution period of 34 months
The Board of Directors of Adif Alta Velocidad (Adif AV) approved in its last meeting the award of the works for the execution of the platform in the section between Lorca and Pulpí, corresponding to the Murcia-Almería line, which is part of the Corridor Mediterranean. The corresponding contract was awarded to the Temporary Business Union (UTE) formed by Ferrovial Construction and Acciona Construction for an amount of 207,444,547.75 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of 34 months.
According to Adif, this action contributes to the achievement of different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as number 9, which has among its goals the development of reliable, sustainable and quality infrastructure, and 11, which seeks to promote transport accessible and safe. The awarded works will be carried out in a section of 31.3 km between the crossing located to the south of the urban area of Lorca, about 200 meters north of the intersection with the RM-11 road; up to approximately one kilometer south of the current Pulpí station.
The layout, which represents the continuity of the section that will be buried in Lorca, corresponds to the municipalities of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras and Pulpí, in the province of Almería. Follow the indications established in the Informative Study and run along the current railway route in the first half and at the end of its route. There is an intermediate area of the section, in which a route with wide radius curves will be built to adapt to the geometry of a high-speed line.
The projected platform corresponds to a double track layout. According to the functional study and the planned design, the maximum speed will be 300 km/h. At the end of the section, after the intersection with Vereda de los Charcones, the double track platform divides into two single track platforms. One of them destined to give continuity to the route towards Águilas and the other that will give continuity to the high-speed line towards Almería.
