He suffered unusual cancer that forced him to stop working in 2024
Belgian actress Emilie Dequenne has died this Sunday at age 43 because of unusual cancer in a hospital near Paris, according to her family and her agent at AFP.
In October 2023, Dequenne revealed that he suffered adrenocortical carcinoma, a adrenal gland cancer.
His first role in «Rosetta», of the Dardenne brothers, released his career, after winning the award for best actress at the Cannes Film Festival for his interpretation in the film, which also won the Golden Palm.
He obtained a series of awards in other appearances, mainly in French -speaking films, including the 2009 film “La Traen girl” and the 2012 drama “Our Children.”
He returned to the Cannes Film Festival in 2024 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his triumph there with the Dardenne brothers and promote the English film “Survive”, released that same year.
It was the last film in which it appeared before the disease forced her to stop working.
