The actors of the Russian film “Solntsepek”, released in 2014, were included in the list of “cultural figures whose actions pose a threat to the national security of Ukraine.”
In total, 21 people were added to the list of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic. Among them are the performers of the main roles in the film – Alexander Bukharov, Vladimir Ilyin, Alexey Kravchenko, Maxim Dakhnenko and Marina Denisova. The list also includes directors, producers and cameramen.
The film itself is described as “a drama about the events in Luhansk in May 2014” and tells the story of the life of an Afghan war veteran who became a participant in a new conflict.
Earlier in October, Ukraine prepared a petition banning concerts and performances of all Russian artists in the country. The document was posted on the website of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. As of October 11, the petition was signed by 25,135 people, which corresponds to the number of votes required for its consideration. It was registered by the Ukrainian producer, showman Igor Kondratyuk.
On October 7, it was reported that in Dnipro (formerly Dnipropetrovsk) an action “corridor of shame” took place against the concert of the Russian singer Irina Krug because of the artist’s performance in Crimea.
Prior to that, on September 13, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) banned the Russian performer Alisher Morgenstern from conducting any concert activity in the country. The musician is included in the list of persons posing a threat to the national security of Ukraine both as Valeev (the rapper’s former surname) and as Morgenstern. The department reported that the linguistic examination confirmed the presence of propaganda in the artist’s texts of the cult of violence and cruelty, as well as the distribution and use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
In August 2015, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine published a black list of cultural figures, including those from the Russian Federation, who allegedly “pose a threat to national security.” Among the artists who got into it were Iosif Kobzon, Oleg Gazmanov, Valeria Perfilova (stage name – Valeria), Yulia Chicherina, Alexander Rosenbaum and Sergey Penkin. The list is regularly expanding.
Relations between Moscow and Kiev deteriorated in 2014 after the return of Crimea to Russia and against the background of the situation in Donbass. The Ukrainian authorities have previously repeatedly accused Russia of interfering in the country’s internal affairs. Russia denies the accusations of the Ukrainian side and calls them unacceptable. Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict and is interested in Kiev overcoming the political and economic crisis.
