The show will offer six shows in the Cartagena auditorium between February 17 and 20
After its triumphant tour of Spain, ‘The Bodyguard’ arrives at the El Batel Auditorium, a musical based on the acclaimed film starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. Octavi Pujades, the leading actor of this show, visited the Cartagena auditorium on Wednesday to present the acclaimed musical with which he is on tour to the media. The actor was accompanied by David Martínez Noguera, Councilor for Culture of Cartagena, and Elena Garzón, Project Manager of the production company LETSGO.
‘The Bodyguard’ will make a stopover in Cartagena to offer six passes: between February 17 and 20. “It is a great production that had to suspend its tour with the arrival of the pandemic, but now we are resuming with great enthusiasm,” explained Octavi Pujades, who added that Cartagena is the first stop after its success for three weeks in Barcelona. Regarding the show, he highlighted that it offers the public sixteen songs by Whitney Houston sung live, with great choreography and changes of scenery.
The mayor of Culture, David Martínez, also wanted to highlight that the programming of this musical is one of the great bets of this season in the auditorium, which as always tries to offer the public of Cartagena a wide and varied cultural offer hiring the best shows of the moment. This one in particular, is having an “impressive reception” on his tour of Spain, after his successful stay in London’s West End.
‘The Bodyguard’ is inspired by the Mick Jackson film that brought Whitney Houston to prominence and made her iconic song ‘I will always love you’ popular. In addition to this, the musical contains many other songs from the original soundtrack (the best-selling of all time and Grammy for Album of the Year) as well as other great hits by the pop diva such as: ‘Run to you’, ‘I have nothing’, ‘So emotional’, ‘One moment in time’, ‘Queen of the night’ or ‘I wanna dance with somebody’.
The musical, as in the film, revolves around pop star and diva Rachel Marron, who is forced to hire a bodyguard after being harassed by a fan. With a libretto by Alexander Dinelaris, the show is directed by Federico Bellone; starring Octavi Pujades, in the role of Frank Farmer; Mireia Mambo, as Rachel Marron and the Murcian artist Sonia Egea, who plays Niki Marron.
A show is produced by LETSGO, promoter of shows with great international projection such as the saga ‘The Hole’, ‘Dirty Dancing’, ‘Young Frankenstein’, ‘The Addams Family’, ‘Ghost’ and ‘Kinky Boots’, which feature with an “absolute success” of public.
The musical will offer six screenings: Thursday, February 17, at 8:30 p.m.; Friday 18, at 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.; Saturday 19, at 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 20, at 6:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in person at the box offices of the auditorium and at the Nuevo Teatro Circo or on the web: auditorioelbatel.es.
