Actor José Dumont is arrested with child pornography

“Globo” announces withdrawal of the actor from the cast of the soap opera “Todos as Flores”, from “Globoplay”

Actor José Dumont was arrested in the act on Thursday (15.Sep.2022) on suspicion of storing images of child pornography. He is also investigated for alleged abuse of a 12-year-old boy.

According to the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, security cameras at the condominium where Dumont lives caught him with the teenager. The complaint was made by neighbors.

The actor reportedly approached the boy about a year ago, offering financial help and gifts.

Upon executing the search warrant at his home, the police found videos and photos of child pornography on his cell phone and personal computer. Storing images of sex involving minors is a crime.

The actor was arrested in the act and taken to the Dcav (Child and Adolescent Victim Police Station). He underwent a custody hearing and was kept in prison.

José Dumont, 72, started his acting career in the theater. He made more than 40 films, among them are “The Man Who Became Juice” and “Dois Filhos de Francisco”.

He debuted at Globo in the 1970s, where he made the program “Caso Verdade”, the series “Carga Pesada” and the special “Morte e Vida Severina”, among other attractions.

He also worked in the extinct TV Headline and on record.

Currently, he was recording a participation in the soap opera “Todos as Flores”, by Globoplay. In a statement, the network said he was removed from the cast. “No abusive and criminal behavior is tolerated by the company, even if it occurs in the personal lives of contractors and third parties that have any relationship with it.”, he justified.

José Dumont’s defense did not comment.
