Activision Blizzard is asking its users whether or not they are interested in NFTs and cryptocurrency games “play to earn“.
This weekend several players were asked to complete a YouGov survey. A section of the aforementioned survey asks participants how interested they would be if cryptocurrencies and NFTs were introduced in Activision Blizzard products, along with more conventional features such as cross-play, VR And subscription services.
NFTs are unique data units that are not interchangeable stored on a blockchain (a form of digital ledger), which allow users to own, buy and sell digital items such as game items or artwork.
Numerous gaming companies have already started selling digital items such as NFT, including Konami and Atari, although this new technology it attracted criticism from many users. Like the gamers, the developers themselves don’t seem very interested in this new technology.
So it seems Blizzard / Activision is trying to see if players are interested in crypto and nf * t in games. I got a survey from them and it is on the survey. I said very disinterested to them. pic.twitter.com/dIT4bVokDK

It seems Blizzard / Activision is looking to see if gamers are interested in cryptocurrencies and NFTs in games. I got a survey from them and you can find themed questions. I said a lot of disinterest about it.
Going back to the discourse that sees many developers reluctant to enter the world of NFTs, one of Blizzard’s senior designers, Jorge Murillo, has publicly criticized this new trend of the industry. Murillo tweeted the following in January:
I’m not gunna qt the person cuz I don’t like the dogpiling that happens on twitter, but as a dev on the @PlayOverwatch team, I am strongly against NFTs and will fight to make sure they aren’t integrated into our game.

As a developer on the Play Overwatch team, I am strongly opposed to NFTs and will struggle to make sure they are not integrated into our game.
Regardless of the contents of the aforementioned survey, in the current state of affairs Activision Blizzard has yet to officially enter the NFT world, and we have to see how the situation will evolve after theacquisition by Microsoftwhich recently finalized the $ 70 billion deal, will be formalized.
