Microsoft layoffs inside Activision Blizzard they are not finished. Today's news is the demolition of the division eSports of the company, with the dismissal of almost the entire team, reduced to just twelve people.

Microsoft waited for CDL staff to return from last weekend's Boston Major before informing those involved in the drastic cuts, as Senior Manager Scott Parkin told X: “They actually did it. They made us work with this Sword of Damocles on the head and fired us on our first day off, totally lacking in decency.”

Parkin's message

Paradoxically, a few hours earlier Parking had expressed confidence in the appointment of Blizzard's new president.

An expected decision

It must be said that for years now Activision Blizzard's eSports division had been under scrutiny because it represented a very high cost which did not produce acceptable revenues. Staff and budget cuts had already been made in recent years, but Microsoft evidently decided that it was not worth continuing to invest in the sector and decided to eliminate the entire division, leaving only some internal staff to manage the ordinary administration.

It makes you think how Blizzard was among the most active companies in promoting eSports. Evidently the bubble has finally burst.
