The war between Russia and Ukraine has caused various video game companies to take a position in this conflict. In this way, companies such as CD Projekt Red, Microsoft and more have decided to suspend the sale of their products in Russia. Now, to this group is added ActivisionBlizzardwho have also announced a blockade for this country.
Through an official statement, Daniel Alegre, President and COO of Activision Blizzard, revealed that will suspend the sale of products in Russia, this as a form of protest against the war with Ukraine. This was what was said about it:
“Today we announce that Activision Blizzard will suspend new sales of our games in Russia while this conflict continues. We will continue to look for ways to support the Ukrainian people. I want to assure you that the safety of our employees is the top priority of our leadership team. We are doing everything we can to help employees and their families, who are directly affected by this tragedy.
We stand with the Ukrainian people and will provide updates on any new actions we take as this crisis continues to unfold.”
Along with this, it has been revealed that the company has donated $300,000 to various charities, and they plan to donate more money throughout this week. Finally, Activision Blizzard has congratulated its Ukrainian employees who have volunteered to protect refugees.
On related issues, Activision Blizzard is sued for wrongful death. Similarly, the company speaks once again about Overwatch 2.
While it is good to see that this company has donated money to help refugees and all those who have suffered from the war, this does not erase the accusations against this company. Let’s hope the company at least manages to stay out of controversies until the Microsoft buyout is over.
