The incidence at 14 days rises almost 80% since last Monday but the income remains stable during the weekend
Active cases of coronavirus have practically doubled in the Region of Murcia in the last week, rising from 4,824 infections to 9,495 this Monday. The Ministry of Health registered 750 cases this Sunday, which once again boosted the incidence to 771 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks. The positivity rate remains high, at 12.52% in the last day.
By municipalities, the circulation of the virus continues to accelerate in Murcia and Cartagena, which reported 284 and 116 infections respectively. In addition, Salud added 48 to Jumilla, 35 to Caravaca de la Cruz, 30 to Alcantarilla, 27 to Molina de Segura, 27 to Yecla, 15 to Lorca, 15 to La Unión, 14 to San Javier, 14 to Las Torres de Cotillas, 13 to Alhama, 13 to Totana, 11 to Moratalla, 11 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 7 to Torre Pacheco, 5 to Bullas, 5 to Fuente Álamo, 5 to Librilla, 5 to Santomera. The rest are distributed by the other municipalities.
However, vaccination is allowing the spread of infections not to spread to hospitals to the same extent as in previous waves. In fact, hospital occupancy has remained stable over the weekend, as total admissions have dropped by three patients, to 220.
Of the total number of admitted patients, 45 are in intensive care units (two more than on Thursday), with ages between 25 and 82 years. 63% of them are unvaccinated. Salud also registered the death of a 77-year-old patient from the Mar Menor health area, bringing the total to 1,788.
