On Monday morning, about twenty people from the Extinction Rebellion action group occupied the lobby of an office of the ABP pension fund on the Zuidas in Amsterdam on Gustav Mahlerplein.
The activists demand that their pension fund ABP immediately stop investing in oil, gas and coal companies. It concerns at least 15 billion euros that ABP has invested in the fossil industry. “We will remain here until our demand is met. There is no more time,” the action group said.
According to a spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion, the action is non-violent, the employees of the ABP can just go in and get to work. “We bring sleeping gear and stay as long as necessary.”
The activists are sitting in the lobby of the Amsterdam Symphony tower, where APG, the pension administrator of the ABP, is located, among others.
For two weeks, Extinction Rebellion also occupied an ABP office in Heerlen.
