A third of the season behind us
The Mugello race marks the end of the first third of the season for MotoGP and it’s time to draw some conclusions. Pedro Acostathe wonder rookie who in these first seven races of 2024 has already guaranteed himself a place in the official KTM team for next year, closed the Italian race at fifth place, first of the non-Ducati riders and a full eight seconds ahead of the second best KTM, that of Brad Binder, who came in tenth. Yet, when asked about an initial ‘self-assessment’ of his debut period in the premier class, the ‘shark’ appeared rather humble.

“The beginning of my MotoGP adventure? It wasn’t a disaster – he commented, hinting at how high his ambitions are, given that many other drivers (even non-rookies) would put their signature to a start to the season like his – it could have been better, but it could also have been much worse. We missed good opportunities at Le Mans and Barcelona, but it’s part of the learning process. Now we have everything clearer, also for the next races. A “slightly boring” race
Focusing on the Mugello race, Acosta highlighted how the weak point for him was the last sectorin which he lost everything he had struggled to gain in the rest of the track: “Today’s race went well, even if it was a bit boring for me. We suffered a lot in sector four. We will work on this in the tests tomorrow. Marquez says he can’t follow my style because it’s risky? It happens because he is not yet driving naturally. It would also be risky if I copied Pecco’s style, so to speak“, he concluded, responding to a comment made in recent days by the eight-time world champion.
