Acosta, post-race illness
The Austin MotoGP race did not disappoint the expectations of the day before, offering a spectacular battle on the track, full of twists and turns. After the race the first three classified, Maverick Viñales, Pedro Acosta and Enea Bastianini they met as per tradition in the cool down roombefore the podium, to discuss what happened on the track.
Here the great effort was clearly seen, especially for the Spanish rookie and for the Beastcaused by the continuous ups and downs and twists and turns of the Texan track. Acosta even felt a slight illness, probably caused – in addition to the accumulated fatigue – also by congestion linked to iced drinks drunk too hastily after the GP. Bastianini himself confirmed the malaise of his very young colleague [‘tagliato’ dalle riprese tv della Dorna]who even on the podium appeared physically exhausted.
Bastianini missed Marquez's crash
Acosta was also the protagonist, in the 'behind the scenes' chat, of ainteresting analysis on the choice of rear tire. Questioned by Bastianini on this matter, the KTM rider explained how for him the medium compound – instead of the soft – represented an obligatory choice: “The simulation told me that I would have had a consumption of 140% if I had used the soft“, commented. In the tension of the race however, the Italian had lost sight of the Marc Marquez crash, which in fact contributed to opening the doors of the podium for him. “How much did Marc finish in the end?”he asked at a certain point Beast. It was Vinales who signaled to him with his hands – and then explained to him – the solo fall of the #93 just after he had inherited the momentary leadership of the race from Acosta.
