Jannay “N”, alias “La Güera”, accused of the murder of José Alfredo Cabrera Barrientos, candidate of the PRI-PAN-PRD alliance for the Mayor of Coyuca de Benítez, was found dead in his cell at the Las Cruces prison in Acapulco, reported the Secretary of Public Security (SSP) of Guerrero.
A person who was in preventive detention was found dead,” reads a statement issued this Wednesday by the SSP.
Jannay “N” entered the Acapulco prison on June 7, after a control judge ordered the precautionary measure of preventive detention against him for the murder of Cabrera Barrientos, which occurred on May 29 at the end of his campaign in the Las Lomas community.
According to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), Jannay “N” acted in collaboration with a young man, who, appearing to be disabled, approached the PRI candidate and shot him four times in the back.
The bodyguards who were protecting the candidate reacted and killed the perpetrator of the crime.
Jannay “N” was arrested at the scene for collaborating, according to the FGE, with Cabrera Barrientos’ executor.
The death of Jannay “N” occurred yesterday, Tuesday, June 11, and was announced today by the SSP, without reporting the causes.
