Collisions on the A22, 70km section closed at the entrance: people pulled from the wreckage
Due to the swarm of rear-end collisions that occurred due to the fog between Reggiolo and Carpi on the A22between km 285 and 300 in both directions, the Brennero motorway was closed on entry as a precaution for around seventy kilometres: from the Nogarole Rocca toll booth to Campogalliano.
THE fire fighters they extracted some people trapped in the sheets of metal. The accident involved a total of one hundred vehicles and was caused by poor visibility due to fog. Several people were injured, none seriously. The decision to close the incoming section was taken to reduce pressure. The junctions will gradually be reopened as the situation is resolved. Shortly after 8am there was an accident between two trucks and a collision with several following cars. The collision occurred at km 293 in a southerly direction, between Reggiolo and Carpi. Rescuers then also intervened for a second accident at km 288, again in a southerly direction, which involved heavy vehicles. In addition to the pile-up on the A22, another accident was also recorded which blocked circulation and created important inconveniences on the A1, between Reggio Emilia and Modena, at km 153.

Big pile-up on the A21, two dead: motorway closed
However, the toll from a pile-up that occurred along the A21, in the province of Brescia, is two dead and several injured. At least 50 people were involved in the fatal collision between Pontevico and Manerbio on the A21 Turin-Brescia. The accident occurred in conditions of poor visibility due to fog. Areu sent 5 advanced rescue vehicles and 13 ambulances to the scene. At the moment they are confirmed over 50 people involved including 2 deceased people. Healthcare personnel and rescuers are proceeding with health assessments and hospitalizations of patients.
Two collisions, in particular, were reported by 118. The first at 8.54 in the direction of Turin-Brescia, which involved a heavy vehicle, the second at 10.20 in the opposite direction, which involved 7 people. 7 people were involved, of which 5 were men between 45 and 57 years old and a 66 year old woman.
