Authorities in San Diego, San Diego, said on Twitter that the plane hit two residential buildings. At least two buildings and several vehicles caught fire.
US channel ABC News says that the plane was a twin – engine Cessna C340 and that it is unclear how many people were on board the plane. The plane is said to have had six seats.
It had left the Yuma of Arizona an hour before the accident. The accident occurred at local time in the afternoon.
In aerial photos the body of the machine was not visible from the scene.
“It’s a pretty raw view, and we’re trying to go through it,” the firefighter Justin Matsushita said reporters.
Neighbors said they heard the plane fall and then a loud explosion sound. Some told how they had run towards burning buildings to help people out of them.
At least two people have been reported injured.
