Accidents Cadet injured in Maasotakoulu exercise, metal parts flew in the face from sniper rifle lock

According to the Maasotakoulos, there was no danger to the other participants in the exercise.

Cadet was injured on Tuesday morning in the Taipalsaari training and shooting area during the shooting exercise of the Maasotakoulu, informs Maasotakoulu.

During the shooting, the sniper rifle flew metal parts into the shooter’s face. A field nurse gave first aid to the injured cadet on the spot. After that, he was admitted to the South Karelian Central Hospital for further treatment.

The accident happened just before ten o’clock. The Army School does not yet know what caused the situation and what was wrong with the weapon. Likewise, it did not know in the afternoon how seriously the cadet was injured.

Southeast Finland the police, for their part, say the case is being investigated as an accident at work and no one is therefore suspected of the crime. According to it, the cadet was taken to receive treatment in his eyes. Police are not aware of what caused the rifle lock to break.

According to the Maasotakoulos, there was no danger to the other participants in the exercise. The relatives of the injured have been informed of the incident.
