According to the source, the “Baana” unit of the “G42” group will start testing five cars on the island of “Yas”. It is one of the tourist and entertainment sites in the capital Abu Dhabi, which includes both the “Formula 1” race track, and the city of “Ferrari World”.
An officer responsible for safety will be present on the test flights, along with passengers, while they stop at nine stations, including a number of hotels and shopping centers.
The second phase of the experiment will include an additional number of sites in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, with a broader scope in the future.
G42 is a company specializing in artificial intelligence and cloud computing, with activities ranging from energy to healthcare.
Earlier this year, Cruise, the self-driving car unit backed and majority-owned by General Motors, struck a deal to start operating self-driving taxis in Dubai by 2023.
And earlier this November, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, wrote on his official account on Twitter, “The UAE will be the first country in the Middle East and the second globally to test self-driving cars on its streets.” Our goal is for this type of car to be safer, safer and of better quality, and we are awaiting the report of the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Office of Artificial Intelligence, on the results of the tests to take the appropriate decision.”
A self-driving car is a vehicle capable of sensing its environment and operating without human intervention. The passenger is not required to control the vehicle at any time, nor is a passenger required to drive.
And the autonomous car can go wherever a conventional car goes and do everything an experienced driver does.
