The Abu Dhabi Police team achieved the first positions in the World Triathlon Championship, which was organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the International Triathlon Federation on 5 and 6 days in Abu Dhabi, as part of preparations for Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the World Triathlon Championship finals, scheduled for the end of the triathlon season in 2022.
The competitions were held within the highest standards of safety, preventive measures and precautionary measures, and in accordance with the protocol for the return of sports activities and events, in order to preserve the safety of all participants. The air distance is 10 km, and the running distance is 2.5 km, in the midst of great competitions between participants from different countries of the world.
The player, Abdullah Al-Laqiti, the champion of Abu Dhabi Police, presented a distinguished sporting level during his participation in the individual sprint, and achieved third place at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The Super Sprint, which is represented by three players: Mohammed Al Hosani in swimming, Lubna Al Halawani in bicycles, and Sultan Al Dhanhani in running in strong competitions, with great participation from different nationalities.
The team obtained new numbers to be added to the Abu Dhabi Police records in sports achievements locally, regionally and internationally, and presented a distinguished image in facing a new sporting challenge in a major international championship that is reflected in the Abu Dhabi Police’s global presence in triathlon and other sports activities.
Major General Salem Shaheen Al-Nuaimi, Director of the Human Resources Sector, affirmed the police leadership’s support for the distinguished sports achievements, which aim to convey a distinguished image of the global leadership in caring for sports, motivating its affiliates and supporting its sports heroes, pointing to the continuous keenness to upgrade the sports system to achieve more sports figures locally, regionally and globally. He affirmed that the General Command has succeeded in reaching pioneering levels.
