The fastest Cupra Leon gets a little faster, because ABT has unleashed its tricks on it and picks up up to 370 hp from the 2.0 TSI… with retention of warranty!
ABT needs no introduction, the German tuner/racing stable has been around for 125 years and has a reputation for getting that little bit extra out of a VAG engine without having to worry about things going wrong. Most (sports) models of the VW group are discussed, so it is just a matter of patience before your own or favorite car is discussed. Today it’s up to the Cupra Leon (VZ), which came on the market at the end of 2020.
As standard, the Cupra Leon VZ counts on a 2.0 TSI four-cylinder engine from 300 (hatchback) to 310 hp (station), ABT conjures up another 60 hp for a total of 360-370 hp. The torque increases from 400 to 450 Nm. For that tuning, the software has only been tampered with thanks to an external box that you hang on the ECU, so you don’t have to fiddle with the standard ECU and you can easily reverse the tuning.
In addition to the engine tuning, ABT also provides a rim and spring package, with 20-inch ABT Sport GR rims in matt or glossy black. The ABT sports springs lower the Cupra Leon by about 30 mm. You can order everything separately, but the full package of engine tuning, rims and springs costs 5,990 euros excluding installation. That’s the disadvantage of a reputable tuner with factory tires: the price is also appropriate.
