More than half of Russians see a doctor with already advanced diseases. This is reported on January 22 TASS with reference to the results of a study carried out by Rosgosstrakh Zhizn together with Invitro.
“Every third Russian suffers from chronic diseases, and every seventh from time to time does not feel very well. Nevertheless, only half of our fellow citizens undergo free medical examinations and preventive examinations, and more than 60% go to the doctor when the disease is already making itself felt, ”the study says.
39.2% of respondents go to the doctor only if something is very sick, and 29% – at the first signs of the disease. Only in extreme cases 23% of respondents turn to a doctor; 18.5% periodically visit a doctor for prophylaxis.
About 13% of the respondents have to constantly take medications and regularly undergo medical examinations due to their health condition, while 9.7% suffer from chronic diseases that are treated only during an exacerbation.
The majority of respondents (51%) did not notice any changes in their health status in 2020. Compared to 2019, 24% of respondents have improved their health and the same number complained about the deterioration.
Earlier in December 2020, it was reported that half of Russians assess their health as satisfactory.
