H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said: “The UAE celebrates, on the occasion of the “International Women’s Day in Diplomacy”, women working in the diplomatic corps, who represent a fundamental pillar in efforts to achieve a more peaceful and prosperous world.
His Highness added in a tweet on the account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Twitter: “Emirati women represent more than 40% of the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and work in several fields, such as: human rights, international law, humanitarian aid, and international trade, and security.”
His Highness stated that the UAE has achieved one of the highest percentages in the region with regard to the number of women working in the diplomatic field, as women occupy the position of ambassadors in different countries, including major countries, and the country is proud of their role in promoting world peace and their contribution to making history.
His Highness stressed that the work of female diplomats is one of the pillars of the success of the UAE’s foreign policy, which emphasizes the importance of tolerance, cooperation and dialogue between cultures, and research shows that women’s participation in diplomacy leads to better results in the pursuit of peace in the world, and in this regard, the UAE mobilizes As a member of the UN Security Council and Human Rights Council of the United Nations, it supports global efforts to empower women and improve human well-being, as women are a key partner in the pursuit of justice, security and stability.
His Highness added: “The UAE is aware of the importance of the impact that women’s efforts contribute to in diplomacy, and we, in turn, offer them the encouragement they deserve, as they are a role model, a peacemaker, a person of high determination, and a pivotal role in diplomatic work.”
