In Spain there are 8 million women who are going through or have gone through menopause. Globally, it is estimated that by 2025 there will be one billion women who will be around this stage. Until now, however, the portrait that has been made of the menopause It has been very negative and has occupied very little space in the media and popular culture. But the time has finally come to banish this old-fashioned tale.
The podcast’We, the menopausal‘, from the ABC Bienestar section, aims to update the image of menopausal women. The trailer is now available and the first episode can be heard tomorrow, Friday, October 11, on ABC.es and on audio platforms.
Throughout five episodes, this topic is addressed with maturity, far from the childish tone with which it has sometimes been treated and resorting to expert and authoritative voices. Real women (Elena, Noris, Lorena, Araceli and Ana) also participate and explain the changes they have felt in their bodies and what emotions have arisen with them.
Symptoms and possible treatments are discussed in depth, while aspects such as nutrition, physical exercise or the sexual well-being at this stage. Without taboos and naturally, normalizing what happens when this occurs hormonal imbalance. In addition to offering a rigorous and empathetic treatment, emphasis is also placed on the positive effects that can arise from menopause.
