Abaraneros fans won’t have time to get bored this season. For the first time in the football history of the town, which is now 91 years old, Abarán will have two teams competing in the same category, in this case in Regional Preference. This circumstance has never happened before.
To the historic Abarán CF, a benchmark in Third and Preferential, and who came to play two seasons in Second Division (1963-64 and 1964-65) with the name of CD Abarán, we must add the name of La Hoya del Campo, A district of about 1,500 residents and that in just four years has gone from Second Autonomous to Preferential after the brilliant rise of the 2020-2021 campaign.
Each team has a different objective. While the team chaired by José Carrelón will fight for the fifth consecutive year for promotion to Third, the team headed by Pedro Ginés Pagán will leave with the primary desire to achieve permanence in the category, which would be quite a feat. While the budget of the first ones reaches 65,000 euros and the price of their tickets is 25 euros, the same as last year, the newly promoted will barely have 32,000 and their cards will cost 15 euros.
