The emerging musician Emin Kurkchyan will perform as a soloist with the Murcia Symphony Orchestra at the Víctor Villegas Auditorium
At the age of 17, the Cordoban pianist Emin Kurkchyan has already shared the stage as a soloist with groups such as the Córdoba Orchestra, the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hamburg New Philharmonie or the Vladicaucaso Philharmonic Orchestra. A list in which, starting this Sunday, at 12:00, you can add the Murcia Symphony Orchestra after passing through the Víctor Villegas Auditorium. However, it is not the first time that the musician has performed in Murcia. “I was in 2019 with the Murcia Region Youth Orchestra and it was a very nice concert, I still remember it,” he admits from Madrid, where he lives after having won a scholarship from the Albéniz Foundation to study the Banco Santander Foundation Piano Chair from the Reina Sofía School of Music with Professor Milana Chernyavska.
The first time this pianist, winner of several competitions such as the Albacete National Competition for Young Pianists (2021) and the Intercentros Melómano Competition (2021), heard the keys of his favorite instrument, it was at home from his mother Larisa Tedtoeva. , professional music. «I started when I was six years old, but since I was little my parents educated me in classical music. Pretty much everything I know is thanks to them.”
From face-to-face to online
Once he definitively opted for the piano, he enrolled in the ‘Músico Zyriab’ Professional Conservatory in Córdoba with professors Ramón Cabanillas and Luis Tomas. However, it was very difficult for him to reconcile music studies with high school and he ended up making a decision. For four years he has been studying remotely thanks to a program designed for profiles like his. “Changing face-to-face education for ‘online’ is a very difficult step but when I went to high school it was impossible for me to study, do homework and go to the conservatory.” With the passage of time he has been adapting to this new modality and at present he considers that it was a good decision, that it made his life easier. “Before I didn’t have time to interact with my friends, now I’m doing very well, I think.” In his new stage in Madrid, he is meeting new people and enjoying the Reina Sofía School of Music, a very pleasant place for him.
‘Giant Competition’
For his concert this Sunday with the ÖSRM, Emin Kurkchyan has chosen works by Bach, Beethoven and Rachmaninov because he really wants to perform them. Therefore, although he is a “quite lazy” person, he is hard preparing the repertoire. “When I get serious – he tells THE TRUTH – I spend quite a few hours on it, although I don’t know how many. Today there is a gigantic competition for that reason it is necessary to study a lot».
