The vehicle leaves the curve and plunges down an embankment
A woman died on Monday afternoon and a man was seriously injured after the car in which they were traveling in Ricote fell from a height of twenty meters.
The 112 Emergency Coordination Center of the Region of Murcia received notice of the tragic event at 7:29 p.m. A call alerted that at kilometer 6.4 of the RM-B15, in the district of Las Lomas de Ricote, a vehicle had left a curve and had fallen twenty meters down an embankment. A woman who was traveling in the car was lying unconscious on the ground and a man, also unconscious, was inside the car.
Just a few minutes later, an ambulance from the Primary Care Emergency Service arrived at the scene from its base in Blanca, which confirmed the events. This was followed by a mobile emergency unit (UME) displaced from Cieza, both from the Management of Emergencies and Health Emergencies 061, firefighters from the Fire Extinction and Rescue Consortium (CEIS) were also mobilized from Cieza, in addition to Protection units Civil and Local Police of Ricote and Civil Guard.
CEIS firefighters managed to rescue both bodies. The 89-year-old woman had already died. The man, aged 74 and seriously injured, was treated ‘in situ’ and urgently transferred by the UME to La Arrixaca.
It should be noted that last Friday a van with farm laborers also rushed down an embankment between Lorca and Caravaca de la Cruz. Three people died and six others were seriously injured. Two of the occupants of the damaged vehicle are still admitted to the ICU.
