A wild boar loose, scared and running around without rhyme or reason through the Entrevías neighborhood. That has been the tremendous sight that the residents of this area of Puente de Vallecas have found at around 10:30 a.m. this Sunday in the vicinity of the Ronda del Sur market. The first emergency calls were not long in coming, when several people witnessed the unlikely route of the animal; others, directly, have had to get to safety in order to avoid a major setback. And even an elderly man has suffered a fall while trying to avoid it.
Thus, several Municipal Police patrols (with support from the National Police) have traveled to the area to try to capture the animal, a large adult. But they have barely been able to stop the nearly three kilometers that the wild boar has traveled. First, through the planters of some blocks, where agents from the Environmental Police Station and the Canine Section have been able to corner him in a doorway to proceed with his sedation. “A dart was thrown at him from a window and we waited almost an hour to see if it had any effect,” sources from the Municipal Police tell ABC.
However, when it seemed that the situation was beginning to be controlled, the mammal got up and took off, to the point of reaching the vicinity of the El Pozo Cercanías station itself, where at one point it was has come to pass. The tension at this point has been such that two of the officials have been injured, one bitten and the other attacked when trying to get in their way. “A police officer’s shield has been broken,” add the same sources, aware of the dangerous situation generated.
Once outside the station, the uniformed officers chased him to an open field near the M-40, where two of them were forced to shoot him down when they were also attacked. A sad ending that the Municipal Corps has tried to avoid by all means, so much so that the intervention has lasted for four hours and has counted on the drones of the Air Support Section to monitor the path of the animal at all times.
