The security cameras captured the entrance of the agents and their late reaction, while the 18-year-old shooter barricaded himself in a class and executed 19 children and two teachers.
A video reveals the inaction of the Police when on May 24 Salvador Ramos, an 18-year-old boy, broke into the Robb school in Uvalde, Texas. Ramos was armed with an assault rifle that he had recently bought and barricaded himself in a classroom with 19 minors and two teachers. He executed them in cold blood, before being shot down by the agents.
The images, taken by the center’s security camera and brought to light by the local media, reveal how the agents arrive just three minutes after the shooter. However, it takes 77 minutes to force the door and bring down Ramos, who had already executed all of his victims. The agents did not enter before, despite the fact that up to four bursts of shots were heard inside the classroom.
“Get in there and get them out, do something!” “They are killing them!” “Shoot him once and for all!” These were the cries of “five or six” parents – recounted one of them, Juan Maldonado – who reached the scene of the latest school massacre at Robb Primary School, as soon as the center’s Facebook page announced that they had sealed the premises by a shooting.
As the Police itself later acknowledged, there were several errors in the operation. The main one, which was approached as if it were a hostage kidnapping, which gave the shooter time to commit the murders.
The bloody episode once again highlighted the unresolved debate in the US about the use of weapons, an issue that deeply divides society.
