Digital Eclipse published a new video from the anthology collection Tetris Foreverwhich quickly shows the fifteen different versions of the game created by Alexey Pajitnov that will be included in the packagewhich will act as a corollary to the story of the game and its troubled debut (it was so troubled to the point of becoming the subject first of a book, then of a film).
The video
Tetris Forever is particularly interesting, because it also includes unreleased games that never made it out of Japan and which will certainly satisfy the curiosity of enthusiasts. This is a work from Digital Eclipse’s Gold Master Series, essentially monographs dedicated to individual games or series, which began with the excellent The Making of Karateka. Let’s see the video.
Digital Eclipse is a studio specializing in playable documentaries, as they are called in the jargon. It is currently an Atari label, which however seems to have left it a lot of freedom, given the upcoming launches. Among the most recent works we highlight Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the mad overlord, a remake of one of the first commercial electronic role-playing games, Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story, a playable documentary dedicated to the great English developer and Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, of which a big DLC has just been released, adding a new timeline and lots of new games.
Tetris Forever was born from the desire to celebrate 40 years of the game. The release is scheduled for 2024, but there is no official release date yet. We imagine that the announcement won’t be long, considering that we are in the last quarter of the year and Christmas is rapidly approaching.
