According to what the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported, the recorded infection appeared on an unvaccinated woman in the city of Petah Tikva near Tel Aviv, inside the Rabin Maternity Medical Center.
Doctors are following up on the case that did not show strong symptoms, in an attempt to find out whether the mixing of the two viruses together could lead to a more serious infection.
Israeli officials believe that several patients contracted the two viruses together in earlier times, but their cases were not diagnosed.
Arnon Wegenitzer, who is in charge of the obstetrics department at the Rabin Medical Center for childbirth, said that no cases of influenza were recorded among pregnant women who came last year to give birth or to follow up their pregnancy, adding that the center began recording more infections in pregnant women in the recent period.
Regarding the seriousness of this new case that appears for the first time, Wagdy Amin, a consultant in chest diseases and director of the Research Center at the National Population Council in Egypt, said that infections are always classified as either the Corona virus or the influenza virus.
But this case is the first that was discovered to be infected with the two viruses at the same time, with symptoms of infection for the two viruses as well, according to the Egyptian doctor, who pointed out that this infection was caused by the spread of the Corona virus during the winter season.
Amin added, in statements to Egyptian media, that the protocols for treating the Corona virus, whether in Egypt or abroad, include a treatment for the influenza virus, which is often added during the winter season.
In the case of corona and influenza, the patient needs special care and additional treatment for influenza in addition to the corona treatment protocol.
