The agreement provides for the construction of a photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 300 megawatts “on a turnkey basis”, with the provision of the necessary financing for the project at 100 percent through payment facilities “quarterly installments for 10 years, to be paid after each section of the project is put into service” with an implementation period of two years. .
Last October, Syrian Economy Minister Samer Al-Khalil announced the government’s approval of the project with the UAE side, noting that the agreement constituted the “first” of companies’ desire to invest in Syria.
The agreement comes two days after the visit of UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Damascus and his meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, in an important step on the road to Syria’s return to the Arab world.
