The players of the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club succeeded in achieving distinguished achievements in the current Taekwondo season, which concluded with winning the Ideal Team Cup, in addition to winning three first-place cups in the junior and junior categories. The club’s teams also won 4 cups in second place and 9 in third place, and the club’s players were able to win 39 gold, 34 silver and 59 bronze medals during the eight tournaments in which they participated.
In terms of supporting the national teams, 17 players were selected to participate with the national team in the Arab Cup and the Fujairah International Championships, while three players participated in the Gulf Games for Youth and Youth, and the club’s male and female players won 18 international medals.
Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, said that the achieved results reflect the approved technical plan, focusing on early ages and working to discover and develop national talents by instilling a culture of practicing Taekwondo as an Olympic sport, so that joining the UAE national team is a primary goal of ascending to international podiums.
Al Owais stressed that the club’s winning of the Ideal Team Cup reflects the importance of combining competing in tournaments with high competitiveness, high sportsmanship, and promoting positivity. He expressed his happiness at the success of the club’s teams and players in passing the season, achieving the targeted success. He thanked the director of the club’s sports training department, Abdul Aziz Al Hammadi, and the work team in general. For the distinguished follow-up that contributed to addressing the challenges.
