Corporal Andrés Martín Pérez, from the Burgos Regiment of Engineers 1, was 28 years old
A soldier from the Army of the Land died this Saturday while practicing a diving course in Cartagena. This is Corporal Andrés Martín Pérez, 28 years old, a native of Villamuriel de Cerrato (Palencia), who was assigned to the Engineers Regiment number 1 based in Castrillo del Val (Burgos) belonging to the Engineers Command. He had joined the Armed Forces in 2021, as reported by the Ministry of Defense.
Martín Pérez died at the Santa Lucía Hospital in Cartagena, where he was transferred the day before after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest while doing a scheduled practice of the elementary diver course.
In 2019, Martín Pérez was promoted to the position of corporal and was in possession of the Military Merit Cross with a white badge.

The Army extended its deepest condolences and support to the family and colleagues of the deceased soldier. «Our condolences and all the support to family and colleagues at this difficult time. He gave his life for Spain #DEP », he lamented.
