A frequent traveler in Russia warned of a popular way to scam tourists in Turkish stores — she says sellers figure out prices for goods on the go. She told about this in her personal blog “Here you are not there” on “Yandex.Zen”.
As the author explained, tourists in Turkey get used to low prices very quickly and often go to the checkout without knowing the cost of the goods. However, when paying, buyers are called inflated prices “like in Europe.”

In this regard, the Russian woman revealed a simple way to avoid fraud – for this, it is enough to clarify the cost of goods in advance. “They concluded that some cunning Turks argue as follows: if you didn’t ask the price, then it doesn’t matter,” she suggested.
The traveler also added that similar situations can be encountered in a cafe when waiters bring menus without indicating the cost of dishes.
Earlier, experts in the tourism industry warned Russians about common fraud schemes when buying last-minute tours. The President of the Ural Tourism Association, Mikhail Maltsev, advised travelers never to make an advance payment for trips on the personal cards of managers and transfer money only to the agency’s settlement account.
