Abu Dhabi (Etihad)
ADNOC Distribution today partnered with Magnati, the wholly owned subsidiary of First Abu Dhabi Bank, to educate consumers about the future of shopping through the region’s first fully automated and independent shopping store.
The first experimental store is located in the ADNOC Oasis within the Sheikh Khalifa Energy Complex, and began receiving visitors in November, providing them with a fully automated shopping experience, using advanced payment solutions and modern self-technology from Magnati. The store is the first in the region to accept payments with bank cards or devices, including Samsung Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, in addition to the ADNOC Smart Wallet.
The store visitor experience begins with registering their preferred payment method, allowing them to choose the products to be added to their shopping cart, and receive invoices automatically. And when they’re done shopping, customers can simply leave without having to wait in queues to pay. The mechanism of the payment process for customers contributes to saving time, while maintaining the highest levels of security in completing payments, in addition to the role of this step in enhancing safety and public health, because contactless payments reduce the chances of direct mixing and the risk of infection with viruses. Purchases enhances the shopping experience and contributes to attracting more customers on a regular basis, which reflects positively on revenues. The automated shop uses surveillance cameras and sensors to bill the products that customers purchase, which also reduces the number of employees required to manage payments, thus directing cadres to other tasks, reducing overheads and costs. To ensure an improved shopping experience and increase sales, ADNOC Distribution will offer customers registered in automated stores a package of rewards and special discounts.
This partnership reflects ADNOC Distribution’s leading position in the fuel retail sector in the UAE, through its focus on developing and improving the shopping experience, which will be enriched by the innovative technologies provided by Magnati. Magnati’s integrated technologies can be used in a variety of settings across the retail sector, enabling automated payments for any business that relies on self-selling technology in their business.
Commenting on this, Ramana Kumar, CEO of Magnati, said: “As a pioneer in the payment services sector in the UAE, Magnati is pleased to offer the latest technology developed for ADNOC Distribution’s convenience stores, ensuring an easy and fast shopping experience for customers on the go. . By reducing the time required to complete the purchase and checkout process, we are enhancing the smoothness of the retail shopping process. We reaffirm the depth of our commitment to innovation, and to providing our partners with a new generation of solutions and technologies that enrich the payments sector in the country.”
Bader Saeed Al Lamki, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, said: “The new ADNOC Oasis stores transform the customer experience into a completely independent experience. Our stores are equipped with the latest technology, including smart contactless payment options, which allow our customers to shop safely and easily and buy fresh, high-quality products on the go.”
