In Iowa, a man has killed two women in a church and then committed suicide
A new shooting in the United States with “multiple shots” this Thursday has left victims during a funeral at Graceland Cemetery in Racine, about 48 kilometers south of Milwaukee, the largest city in the state of Wisconsin.
“At 2:26 p.m. local time, multiple shots were fired at Graceland Cemetery. There are victims but it is unknown how many at this time. The scene is still active and is being investigated,” Racine Police said on her Twitter account.
Police have asked local residents to avoid the area and have launched an investigation to clarify the facts. The cemetery borders Osborne and Ohio to the east and west.
Curfew for minors
Racine Mayor Cory Mason announced Thursday night that in response to the rise in gun violence in the city of Racine, through the weekend, everyone under the age of 18 will not be allowed on city streets from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (local time).
“Today’s heinous shooting in a cemetery while a family was already grieving the loss of a loved one is yet another atrocity by the perpetrators of violence in our community. We must end the violence, revenge is not the answer. Ending gun violence is the top priority of the Police Department and my Administration,” Mason stressed, as reported by the local newspaper ‘The Journal Times Racine’.
In this regard, he stressed that he had held a conversation with the Governor and the Attorney General to request more resources to support the prevention of violence in the city.
“I am directing the Police Department to actively enforce our weekend curfew ordinance. Those under the age of 18 must be at home before eleven o’clock at night », she added.
On the other hand, the governor, Tony Evers, has explained on his Twitter account that he has monitored the shooting this Thursday in Racine and has been in contact with his local partners to offer support. “While we await additional information, we pray that all those involved survive and recover. Armed violence has to stop », he indicated.
This event has occurred a day after an armed man killed his surgeon and three other people at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, in the state of Oklahoma.
On May 24, another shooting left at least 21 people dead, 19 of them children and two adults, at the Robb Elementary School in the city of Uvalde, in the state of Texas, in the southern United States.
