“For this, among many other things, a new INE is urgently needed, without involved parties, without access to public money, with full freedom of expression and choice,” posted the top leader of TV Azteca.
Born in Monterrey, Nuevo León on October 19, 1955, he published the above words in response to the tweet: “Whether López Obrador, the Pope or Jesus Christ proposed it: the “electoral ban” is stupid and condescending. No self-respecting democracy can limit the freedom of its citizens to publicly support whoever they want. Don’t be silly, dare to think for yourself.”
The positioning of Salinas Pliego It goes along a similar line to comments made by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador a few weeks ago, when he proposed that the INE disappear and its functions be directed to the Judiciary.
One of AMLO’s arguments is that the entity in charge of defending democracy must be completely autonomous and “now it is not”, according to the founder of Morena, the change would help electoral issues to be reviewed by “upright, honest people , faultless.”
