Twitter is currently testing the new feature in the latest version of its application, and says that once it is launched, it will give the user an easy and immersive viewing experience.
As for the motive behind Twitter’s testing of this feature, Fadi Ramzy, a digital media expert and lecturer at the American University in Cairo, says that it “came to catch up with applications such as Instagram and YouTube Shorts that copied that model of videos and the way they were displayed from the “Tik Tok” application. “After the latter achieved great success, and his service for short videos became the top of the users’ interests and the most attractive to them.”
Ramzy added, in his speech to “Sky News Arabia”, that “the experience of watching videos in full screen mode achieved a better experience for users, and the ability to scroll to get one video after another helped increase the hours of viewing, so it was logical for Twitter to enter the experience line along the lines of The rest of the competing applications, which followed “Tik Tok” once its feature achieved that great success.”
He explains that “the technology market competitors clone the successful experiences created by others is a characteristic of all social media applications to maintain and attract more of their user base, thus maximizing profits.”
Ramzy continues that “The YouTube Shorts application’s achievement of higher total views than Tik Tok in the previous months, was encouraging Twitter to enter the line of competition in the short video market, in an attempt to attract more users, and then increase the volume of ads inside. him and thus increase profits.
And for those who want to try the new feature, all they will have to do is to click on the search button on Twitter, then browse to the bottom to find the “Videos for You” option, to direct the user to the video mode in full screen mode and the ability to scroll to get video by video the other.
The short tweet site also said that the videos will be displayed in the “Explore” tab, so if you click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom, you’ll see a circular video next to the tweets and trends Twitter has chosen for you.
The videos displayed will be based on artificial intelligence based on user preferences, and each user will see the number of views the videos have received.
Despite this, Ramzy does not believe, in his speech to “Sky News Arabia”, that “Twitter” will be at the top of the competition in the short video market, which “Tik Tok”, “YouTube Shorts” and “Instagram” are competing with, while he imagines that it will come in Second place in competition with “Facebook” and “LinkedIn” applications.
Currently, the new feature is only available in some regions of the world that use Twitter in the English language, while it will be rolled out to everyone in the coming days.
