Agents of the National Police have dismantled a criminal organization in Salamanca that allegedly is dedicated to trafficking women for sexual exploitation which forced them to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as well as the consumption of narcotics. In the operation, twelve people have been arrested, of whom six have been placed in preventive detention, and 17 victims have been detected.
The women, of Latin American origin, were recruited to work in Spain through false promises of economic improvement offered on a social network, the Government Delegation details in a statement.
A complaint received by the National Police email [email protected] prompted the start of the investigations, during which it was possible to confirm the existence of a criminal organization, based mainly in Salamanca, which, taking advantage of the situation of necessity, and vulnerability of his victims, he subjected them to sexual exploitation in brothel flats.
The framework, “perfectly hierarchical and with a clear distribution of roles”, He contacted his victims through a social network in which they offered false jobs in our country to improve their future and be able to help their families. “Once the victims were in Spain, their documentation was withdrawn, and instead of reporting their situation to the authorities, they were forced to engage in prostitution due to the fear derived from their irregular stay and towards the organization,” details the release.
It also explains that the victims They were distributed in the different floors that the network had for its purposes.where they were informed of the working conditions, “having to be available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and being forced to consume narcotic substances.” For the services provided, “they obtained only 50% of the profits generated,” being subject to “a system of fines in the case of failing to comply with the rules imposed by the framework.”
“Inhumane” conditions
Furthermore, he adds himself. “They were subject to strict control,” having to remain inside the apartments, with “limited exits to the outside” and living in “inhumane conditions.”
The investigation also revealed the rest of the criminal activities carried out by those in charge of the homes where prostitution was coercively carried out, including crimes related to public health, especially, the trafficking of narcotic substances. The victims were obliged to consume it and it was provided to the clients if they requested it.
During the operation, the simultaneous entry and registration of five properties and brothels in the province of Salamanca was carried out, in which 12 members of the criminal organization were arrested, and 21,000 euros in cash were seized, 51 grams of cocaine, dataphones used to pay for sexual services and abundant documentation related to the investigation.
