The young man tried to rescue his pet, who had jumped into the water from an area of rocks with waves and background currents
Agents of the Orihuela Costa Local Police took a young man from the sea this Tuesday, a native of Murcia, who died while trying to rescue his dog from the water, in the Oriolan town of Cabo Roig. Police sources indicated that the death occurred after eight in the morning, when the boy’s pet jumped into the sea from an area of rocks and the owner went after him when he saw that there were waves and bottom currents.
A man spotted the young man from a boat and alerted the Local Police. Several agents traveled to the place in a zodiac from the port of Cabo Roig. Ten minutes later, they located the boy floating in the sea and unconscious, and transferred him to the dock. Medical personnel from a Samu ambulance performed resuscitation maneuvers on him, but they were unsuccessful and the boy died around 10:00 a.m.
The body was transferred to the Forensic Anatomy of Murcia, where the autopsy will determine if he died of drowning or because he hit the rocks while trying to save his dog.
