Ginés Guzmán, who acted as drummer, says that it was “a meeting of friends” to “celebrate a birthday” and that there was no call
The councilor of the municipal group of the PP in the City Council of La Unión, Ginés Guzmán was one of the participants in the concert for boats considered illegal – he did not have permission from the Cartagena Maritime Captaincy –, held last Saturday in front of the island of the Deer. More than fifty pleasure boats attended the event without permission. The mayor did it as a drummer for the unionense group El Sitio de mi Garage, along with the rest of the band. Guzmán, in statements to LA VERDAD, explained that it was “a meeting of friends to celebrate a birthday with a few boats to which others were added, to our surprise.”
He made it clear that “there was no prior organization or call, not even informal”, and that they did not imagine “that playing music outdoors was not allowed”. Also that “no one was charged for playing or for anyone to attend, since he – he insisted – was only a meeting between friends.” This group already offered a similar concert in the same place on August 14 last year, something that then sparked the disapproval of SOS Mar Menor. This group reproached the musical group on social networks for having organized the event days after the salty lagoon suffered anoxia.
No warning for “anchoring”
Precisely, about the place chosen for the concert, the mayor, who was a delegate at the Extraordinary National Congress of the PP, held in Seville in April, said that they have never been called “attention by any authority for anchoring or playing.” The boat Flippa Boat also participated in the concentration of boats, which sold tickets to transport everyone who wanted to enjoy the concert at a rate of 25 euros per person.
The Maritime Captaincy continues with the investigation to find out who is responsible and insisted that this weekend it will increase surveillance in the Mar Menor.
