The Vancouver Police (Canada) has reported that “several people have died and were injured” in a massive outrage that has taken place in the city on Saturday afternoon. The driver, already detained, has rammed the crowd that attended a festival that was held on the street, the Lapu Lapu, which celebrates the Filipina culture.
“We will give more information as the investigation takes place,” the police said in a statement. At the moment, there is not much information about what happened. The number of dead and injured, as well as the possible motivations of the driver is unknown.
Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney has said to be “devastated” before the “terrible events” in Vancouver. Carney has expressed their condolences with the victims and their relatives, as well as with the Canadian Filipino community, and has indicated that they are “monitoring the situation closely.”
