A national police officer managed to put out the flames, which hardly caused any injuries to the man.
A man had to be treated this Friday after a fire was set in the Immigration offices of Murcia. The individual, from Eastern Europe, came to spray himself with a flammable liquid -apparently, solvent- and set himself on fire with a lighter but, according to police sources, his attempt barely managed to set his jacket on fire. A National Police agent who works in the center, with the help of other witnesses, managed to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher and some water.
The man, who apparently suffers from psychological problems and did not offer a reasonable explanation for his actions, had to be treated by a team of toilets. His injuries, however, were not serious, as the sources specified.
The events occurred around 12:30 p.m. The man entered the Immigration facilities and, first of all, threw a firecracker, the sources explained. Later, with a bottle of solvent that he was carrying on top of him, he doused himself and set himself on fire assuring that he was going to take his own life. The man was in a state of great agitation for which he had to be treated.
