A man asked in the Sharjah Federal Court to reduce the expenses allocated to his children from his ex-wife, noting that he is married to three women and has other children whom he supports. He justified his claim by saying that the current financial circumstances are putting great pressure on him, which makes him unable to continue paying the amounts previously specified as expenses for his children from The defendant, which amounts to 7,500 dirhams per month, while the court of first instance rejected the plaintiff’s request to reduce the children’s alimony due to not proving any change in financial circumstances.
The plaintiff stated that his financial situation had changed since the first ruling, and he incurred debts as a result of the implementation of the previous ruling in favor of the defendant, pointing out that he supports three other families in addition to the defendant’s children, which burdens him financially.
He added that his divorcee receives a financial allowance for domestic help, although that allowance was not included in the expenses in the previous ruling.
For her part, the defendant responded through her agent, confirming the validity of the marriage, childbirth, and imposition of expenses based on the ruling of the Court of Appeal, but she demanded that the plaintiff’s lawsuit be rejected because it was not valid. In turn, the court of first instance rejected the plaintiff’s request to reduce child support because no change in financial circumstances was proven. It also rejected his request to reduce the allowance for electricity, water, gas, and the Internet.
