The National Police have arrested a 54-year-old man in Abrera, in the Baix Llobregat region of Barcelona, for threatening to kill the leader of Podemos, former minister and current deputy in Congress, Ione Belarra, through social networks. The arrest took place at the home of the person under investigation.
As it has progressed The Newspaper and the Catalan News Agency (ACN) has confirmed, the provincial Information brigades of Madrid and Barcelona investigated comments that the man, with no criminal record, sent to Belarra through Instagram.
“Know that one day I will kill you, disgusting. I wish I had you in front of me to smash your face. “Daughter of a bitch, I will kill you,” he told her, among other insults. The man also made supremacist comments such as “Go to Venezuela, Spain is not Latin or black, it is white and Catholic, son of a bitch.”
The detainee also insulted another Podemos leader and also a former minister, the current MEP Irene Montero, as well as other female leaders of Podemos and the PSOE. “Between you, Irene Montero and all the shitty women of your fucking party and the PSOE It shows how mentally retarded you are.”
In October 2023, during the amnesty negotiations, the man also insulted the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and called him “little dog”, “damn bastard”. On Tik-tok, he wished Sánchez would die.
