When planning a one-of-a-kind event for your employees and their families, it goes without saying that you are looking for activities and ideas that suit the entire family. It can be hard to think of activities to suit all ages, though, because, as we know, different age groups have different interests. But some activities are fit for all, and you have to know how to incorporate them into your event. So what can you do to make a fun day of it and liven up the atmosphere for everyone? Here’s your list of unique ideas to make your next corporate family day an event to remember.
- A cooking contest
Everyone knows how popular cooking competitions are nowadays, with a plethora of cooking shows on television to delight the young and the old. So why not engage groups or teams and have your own cooking contest? It can be a showdown of different teams or departments showcasing their cooking talents, and you will not only have fun cooking the food – but you will also have fun eating it.
- A dance party with a theme
If you want everyone to have a good time and be active at the same time, another great idea is to host a dance party – with a theme, no less! Everyone loves to dance, even though they will not admit it, and you can hold your dance party at a local pub or a hall. You can even organise a dance contest amongst the kids. For a theme, there are lots of options – it can be a rodeo theme (so everyone can dress up in classic cowboy style – don’t forget those ten-gallon hats), or you can have another classic – a 70s-era dance party complete with platform shoes and disco balls and lots of glitter.
- A summer bonfire
One unique idea that’s great for some evening fun is to have a bonfire – you can hold it in a campground and invite everyone to share in the festivities. Kids will love roasting marshmallows and hot dogs, and the adults can have a lot of fun exchanging stories and playing games. You can even add some extra thrill to the evening by playing some fairground games like coconut shy or ball in the globe (and other classic funfair side stalls), and there are plenty of companies that can provide you with those funfair stalls for hire.
- Plan the perfect picnic
Since it’s summer and most people would rather be outdoors than indoors, another obvious option would be to have a summer picnic. But since everyone’s done a picnic at some point, you can have an extra fun time and add to the excitement by playing board games and introducing some side stalls to help everyone relax – it can also unleash everyone’s competitive side.
Aside from the activities mentioned above, you can make your corporate family day an even more exciting day with a scavenger or treasure hunt, a film night, a concert or other musical event, and more. It’s important to let your employees know that you appreciate their efforts, and with any of these activities, your employees can have a fantastic time.
